Frequently Asked Questions

Are most loads drop-and-hook?

Yes. Trailers are preloaded at distribution centers in the LA basin. Drivers drop loaded trailers and hook pre-staged returns at destination terminals.

How are routes assigned?

Dispatch typically plans loads one day in advance. Seniority influences lane preference, with consistent patterns across the Western network.

What happens during detention?

Detention pay applies after 2 hours. Most terminals run efficient dock operations with scheduled appointments to minimize delays.

Do drivers stay in the sleeper cab?

Yes. Regional runs include overnight stays in the assigned sleeper tractor. Routes are built to support legal HOS rest periods.

How is layover handled?

Layover pay is $175 per night when required by freight scheduling or weather/road conditions.

Is weekend work required?

Weekend work is optional and usually only during peak retail periods such as holidays and back-to-school season.

📡 Dispatch Notes

  • Outbound loads staged based on distribution center demand and retail replenishment forecasts
  • Backhauls assigned to minimize empty miles on return to Southern California
  • Real-time monitoring of I-10, I-15 and I-5 corridors for traffic and construction
  • System update: Electronic logging and route optimization active on all tractors
  • Load priority status: Retail and grocery replenishment during peak seasons

⚠️ Operational Risk Layer

  • Weather exposure zones: Desert heat in AZ/NV, occasional winter conditions in higher elevations
  • Traffic congestion risk: High in LA basin during morning and evening peaks
  • Load delay probability: Low to moderate – organized terminal operations
  • Equipment sensitivity: Standard dry van – focus on securement and seal integrity
  • Compliance checkpoints: Common along I-15 and I-10 corridors
