💼 Career Opportunities
Dispatch activity in the Savannah port and warehouse corridor remains steady across most cycles, with periodic surges tied to vessel arrivals and container release windows. Yard drivers who stay consistent in staging accuracy often move into trainer positions or assist with gate coordination roles. There is internal movement toward regional dispatch support teams and safety compliance functions for drivers who demonstrate strong documentation habits. Some operators transition into dedicated port accounts or become lead yard coordinators responsible for shift-level flow management. Freight volume in the region supports stable yard operations throughout the year, with predictable but sometimes compressed turnaround expectations during peak inbound container waves.
🔗 CDL-A Yard Hostler / Container Yard Driver (Port & Warehouse Staging Operations) – Savannah, Georgia
Yard operations in Savannah focus on high-frequency trailer movement between port terminals, staging yards, and warehouse docks. Drivers operate in short-cycle movements where timing depends on vessel discharge flow and dock availability. Appointment windows shift based on container release timing, and yard congestion can create brief delays at gates and staging lanes. This role stays centered on continuous repositioning work rather than over-the-road driving, with structured shifts that align with terminal operating hours. Weekly pay reflects active yard demand and variable shift intensity across the port network.
