Hiring Radius: Phoenix Metro Area
● Terminal Location: West Phoenix Logistics Corridor
This CDL-A Warehouse Shuttle Driver position is available with a confidential employer operating a dedicated local logistics network in the Phoenix metro area. The role focuses on moving loaded and empty trailers between distribution centers, cross-dock facilities, fulfillment centers, and storage yards throughout Central Arizona.
Drivers stay within the greater Phoenix area, handling frequent short-haul trailer movements along I-10, Loop 101, Loop 202, and US-60. Most work stays within 25–60 miles of the main terminal in the West Phoenix logistics corridor. Expect consistent daily activity supporting retail, e-commerce, food distribution, and manufacturing supply chains.
Shifts usually start between 4:30 AM and 7:00 AM. Drivers begin with a pre-trip inspection on their assigned day cab tractor, then pick up the first trailer assignment from dispatch. Most mornings start with either a preloaded trailer at the terminal or a direct move to a customer distribution center in areas like Tolleson, Goodyear, or Glendale.
Throughout the shift, expect 5–10 trailer moves between warehouse facilities. This includes verifying seals and BOLs, completing drop-and-hook exchanges, and handling occasional live loads or unloads. Dispatch uses Samsara for real-time updates, adjusting moves around afternoon dock congestion common at larger fulfillment centers. Drivers return to the home terminal at shift end for post-trip inspection and secure parking.
This shuttle operation supports retail distribution, consumer packaged goods, foodservice, building materials, and e-commerce fulfillment across the Phoenix metro. Freight is primarily palletized and moves between major distribution parks in Tolleson, Goodyear, West Phoenix, Glendale, Deer Valley, Chandler, and Mesa.
About 65% of moves are drop-and-hook with pre-staged trailers. The remaining 35% involve live loading or unloading at customer facilities. Drivers handle standard dry van freight including retail inventory, household products, packaged foods, beverages, and seasonal merchandise. No-touch freight dominates, though some live unloads occur with warehouse support available.
The fleet consists of well-maintained day cab tractors including 2021–2024 Freightliner Cascadias, 2020–2023 Kenworth T680s, and 2019–2022 International LTs. All tractors feature automatic transmissions, air ride suspension, Samsara ELD, forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control on newer units. Most drivers get assigned tractors when available.
Trailers are mostly 53-foot dry vans from 2018–2024 Utility and Hyundai models with air ride, swing or roll-up doors, and tracking on newer units. The company maintains its own shop in the West Phoenix corridor with 24/7 roadside support through national vendors.
Phoenix has become one of the strongest local trucking markets in the Southwest. Its central location along the I-10 corridor, massive warehouse growth in areas like Tolleson and Goodyear, and strong e-commerce and retail presence create steady demand for experienced CDL-A drivers who prefer staying close to home.
Local shuttle and dedicated warehouse work like this position helps keep freight moving between distribution centers serving the entire metro area. Drivers familiar with Phoenix traffic patterns on Loop 101, Loop 202, and I-17 know how important reliable local dispatch is for maintaining steady hours without long-haul fatigue.
The expanding logistics infrastructure around the Valley continues to support consistent trailer movements year-round. Retail and food distribution peaks during holidays add extra opportunities for overtime while still returning home nightly. For drivers based in or near Phoenix looking for stable local CDL-A work with modern day cabs and predictable schedules, this type of shuttle role offers a solid balance of earnings and quality of life.
