Hiring Radius: Phoenix Metro Area
● Terminal Location: Phoenix Freight Terminal
This local LTL pickup and delivery position is available with a confidential regional carrier operating out of their Phoenix freight terminal. Drivers handle daily P&D work moving palletized freight throughout the Phoenix metro area and surrounding communities.
Routes focus on established commercial accounts, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and retail locations. Most drivers work a consistent five-day schedule with early morning starts and return to the terminal each afternoon. The operation supports strong year-round freight volumes from retail, e-commerce, construction, and food distribution sectors common in the Valley.
Drivers usually report to the Phoenix terminal between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM. Outbound freight is pre-loaded overnight by dock staff. You complete a pre-trip inspection on your assigned day cab, verify seals and paperwork, then head out on your first delivery runs.
The day mixes deliveries to warehouses and businesses across Tolleson, Goodyear, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, and other areas with pickups that build the next day's linehaul. You'll handle 12-20 stops, coordinate with receiving personnel, manage BOLs, and communicate status updates through the Samsara system. Most afternoons focus on pickups before returning freight to the terminal for evening sorting.
Traffic on I-10, I-17, Loop 101, and Loop 202 can add time during peak hours, so dispatch adjusts routes as needed. You finish the shift with post-trip inspection, paperwork submission, and equipment staging.
Freight consists primarily of palletized LTL shipments including retail merchandise, building materials, HVAC equipment, industrial components, medical supplies, food ingredients, packaging, and automotive parts. Most loads move between the terminal, distribution centers, manufacturing sites, and local businesses.
Phoenix continues to grow as a major logistics center in the Southwest. The metro area's strategic location makes it a key distribution point for freight moving between California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. CDL-A drivers in local LTL roles like this one benefit from consistent daily work supported by strong retail, manufacturing, and e-commerce demand.
Drivers familiar with the Valley know the importance of planning around morning and afternoon traffic on I-10 and the Loop freeways. Warehouse clusters in Tolleson and Goodyear, industrial parks in Tempe and Chandler, and retail activity across Mesa and Scottsdale create steady pickup and delivery volume throughout the week.
Local P&D work offers predictable schedules compared to OTR positions. Many experienced drivers prefer staying closer to home while still earning solid hourly wages plus activity pay. The Phoenix freight market supports year-round operations with seasonal peaks during holiday retail periods and construction season.
