Hiring Radius: Phoenix Metro Area
● Terminal Location: Phoenix, AZ Metro
Our recruiting team is hiring experienced CDL-A drivers for local grocery distribution runs out of the Phoenix metro area. This home daily role focuses on refrigerated deliveries supporting major supermarket chains and distribution centers across the Valley.
Drivers handle multiple store stops per shift, working with preloaded reefers and electric pallet jacks where needed. The operation runs early morning and overnight shifts to keep shelves stocked before peak shopping hours. Routes stay within the greater Phoenix area, including Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Surprise, and Goodyear.
Morning shifts usually start between 3:30 AM and 6:00 AM at the Phoenix terminal. Drivers complete a pre-trip inspection on their assigned day cab, hook to a preloaded reefer, verify seals and BOLs, then head out on the first delivery sequence.
Routes involve 4-8 store stops with live unloads handled mostly by store receivers. Dispatch uses Samsara for real-time updates on traffic and appointment changes along I-10 or the Loop freeways. Drivers return empty pallets and paperwork to the DC at the end of the shift before post-trip inspection and fueling.
Overnight routes follow similar patterns but focus on getting product into stores before opening. Summer heat means extra attention to reefer settings and tire pressure.
This account hauls refrigerated grocery products including fresh produce, dairy, frozen foods, meat and poultry, bakery items, and beverages. Loads originate from regional distribution centers in the Phoenix area and go to retail grocery stores.
This is a true home daily position. Drivers start and end each shift at the Phoenix terminal. Schedules are generally consistent with 5-day work weeks, though occasional sixth days are available during peak holiday demand.
Phoenix has become one of the strongest local CDL-A markets in the Southwest. Rapid population growth across the Valley continues to drive grocery distribution demand year-round. Major distribution centers positioned along I-10 and the Loop freeways support consistent store replenishment for national and regional supermarket chains.
Drivers familiar with Phoenix-area operations know the challenges of I-10 corridor congestion near downtown, the Stack interchange on I-17, and Loop 101 traffic around Scottsdale and Mesa. Grocery accounts like this one provide stable local work that avoids long OTR runs while offering reliable hours and overtime during peak retail seasons.
The metro area's logistics network includes large warehouse clusters in west and southeast Phoenix, with frequent backhauls of empty pallets and vendor returns keeping equipment moving efficiently. Experienced local drivers appreciate the predictable customer base and ability to return home every night.
For CDL-A drivers seeking truck driving jobs in Phoenix, this grocery distribution role offers a solid balance of steady miles, modern day cab equipment, and strong hourly earnings potential. The position is well-suited for drivers who prefer metropolitan routes with multiple short-haul deliveries rather than cross-country hauls.
Local freight demand remains strong due to ongoing residential and retail expansion in areas like Surprise, Goodyear, and Gilbert. Distribution centers continue to expand capacity to serve the growing population, creating consistent opportunities for professional local drivers.
