Hiring Radius: 50 miles
● Terminal Location: Phoenix Distribution Center
This local food service delivery position is available with a confidential Arizona carrier. The role focuses on temperature-controlled deliveries to grocery stores, restaurants, healthcare facilities, schools, and other institutional customers across the Greater Phoenix area.
Drivers start and end each day at the Phoenix terminal. Routes involve multiple stops with live unloads using liftgates and pallet jacks on many deliveries. This is steady local work with consistent freight volume supported by the region's growing population and foodservice demand.
Most shifts start early between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM at the Phoenix distribution center. You'll begin with a pre-trip inspection on your assigned day cab tractor, check reefer temperatures, review BOLs and seals, then hook up to a preloaded refrigerated trailer.
Routes typically include 8-16 deliveries across the metro area. Grocery back docks in the morning, restaurant and institutional stops later. You'll handle live unloads with pallet jacks and liftgates at many locations. Dispatch stays in contact for traffic or appointment changes along I-10 and the Loop freeways.
Afternoons see you returning to the terminal for post-trip inspection, paperwork, and fuel before heading home. Summer heat means extra attention to reefer performance and staying hydrated during dock waits.
You'll haul a mix of temperature-controlled food products including fresh produce, frozen foods, dairy, meat, beverages, bakery items and restaurant supplies. Most loads come from refrigerated warehouses in west and south Phoenix industrial areas.
Customers include major grocery chains, independent stores, restaurants, hotels, schools, and healthcare facilities throughout Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Glendale, Peoria, Goodyear and Surprise. About 80% of deliveries require live unload with some liftgate use. Freight is palletized but requires careful handling to maintain the cold chain.
The fleet includes well-maintained Freightliner Cascadia, Kenworth T680 and Peterbilt 579 day cabs from 2019-2024 model years. All have automatic transmissions, air ride suspension and modern safety features like collision mitigation and lane departure warnings. No driver-facing cameras, but outward-facing for documentation.
Trailers are mostly 48' and 53' reefers from Great Dane and Utility with Thermo King or Carrier units. Some have liftgates for specific accounts. Electric pallet jacks are provided where needed. Tractors are assigned when possible with limited slip seating during peaks.
Additional quarterly performance and safety bonuses available. Sign-on bonus up to $1,000 paid in installments.
Phoenix has become one of the strongest markets for local CDL-A food service drivers in the Southwest. Rapid population growth, new housing developments, and expanding restaurant and grocery sectors create steady demand for reliable delivery drivers who know the metro area's roads and receiver procedures.
Major freight activity centers around industrial parks off I-10, Loop 101 and Loop 202. Warehouses in west Phoenix supply stores and restaurants across the Valley. Drivers familiar with morning traffic patterns on US-60, I-17 and the Loop freeways do well here. Food distribution operates year-round with peaks before holidays and during tourist seasons.
This type of local foodservice work suits experienced drivers who prefer consistent schedules, no long hauls, and the ability to be home every night. The confidential carrier maintains a solid safety record and focuses on temperature integrity for perishable loads. If you're looking for truck driving jobs in Phoenix with home daily routes, this opportunity provides realistic earnings potential in a stable local segment.
