Hiring Radius: 50 miles
● Terminal Location: Joliet Logistics Campus
Midwest Warehouse Logistics is hiring CDL-A drivers for warehouse shuttle work out of our Joliet logistics campus. This is straight local dedicated work moving sealed dry van trailers between distribution centers, cross-docks, and storage yards in the southwest Chicago metro area.
You'll handle short runs between Joliet, Elwood, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Plainfield, and Shorewood facilities. Most of the day involves trailer swaps, yard positioning, and keeping freight flowing through the network. No customer deliveries or unloading — just moving trailers between warehouses.
Shifts follow warehouse hours, typically Monday through Friday with possible weekend work during peak volume. Start times vary but many runs begin early morning. Expect 45-55 hours most weeks depending on freight and overtime.
You start with a pre-trip inspection on your day cab tractor at the Joliet yard. Dispatch gives you a list of trailer moves for the shift. You'll pull loaded or empty trailers, run short hops to nearby facilities, drop them, and pick up the next one.
A lot of the day is spent doing yard checks, backing into docks, and coordinating with warehouse teams. You verify seals and trailer condition before every move. Most afternoons you finish your assigned runs and head home.
We are hiring drivers who live within reasonable driving distance of the Joliet logistics campus. Priority goes to applicants in Joliet, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Plainfield, and surrounding southwest suburbs.
This is true daily home time. You return to the Joliet area at the end of every shift. No overnights or sleeper work.
Joliet sits in one of the strongest logistics markets in the Midwest. The area serves as a major hub for intermodal, warehousing, and distribution supporting the entire Chicago region. I-55, I-80, and surrounding industrial parks keep freight moving year-round.
CDL-A drivers who live in the Joliet area have steady opportunities in local and dedicated work. Warehouse shuttle positions like this one provide the stability many drivers want — consistent hours, daily home time, and no long-haul fatigue. The southwest suburbs continue to grow as more distribution centers open.
