A normal week starts with dispatch reviewing available steel loads from Cleveland-area service centers and plants. Load details including pickup location, commodity type, delivery appointment, and securement needs are shared before the previous delivery completes when possible.
At the facility drivers check in with security, wait for crane or staging instructions, position the trailer, and remain available during loading. After loading they perform full securement verification using chains, binders, and edge protection before reviewing bills of lading and departing. Most time is spent on driving and customer facility activities with occasional short repositioning for reloads in Toledo, Detroit, Columbus, or Pittsburgh areas.
At delivery the process repeats with plant check-in, securement inspection, and paperwork completion. Dispatch coordinates reload opportunities near industrial zones while monitoring hours-of-service. Winter weather and production schedule changes often require real-time adjustments to keep equipment moving efficiently.
