A normal week begins at the company terminal or assigned staging yard in Portland. After pre-trip inspection and ELD login, drivers receive their first assignment, which usually involves heading to the mill to pick up loaded trailers or positioning empties for loading.
Drivers spend the day handling live loads at the mill or converting plants, making deliveries to packaging customers or warehouses, and performing trailer swaps. Production readiness often dictates timing, so some stops move quickly while others require waiting for product to be staged and wrapped.
At the end of the shift drivers return to the Portland area. Dispatch adjusts stop sequences throughout the day based on mill output, trailer availability and customer needs.
