Roughly 50% trailer moves and cross-dock transfers, 30% live loading/unloading, and 20% customer delivery appointments. Percentages shift with seasonal volume.

Drivers generally do not take tractors home unless specifically approved by operations. Equipment is parked at company terminals or secured yards.
Q: How does the company handle trailer shortages during peak periods?
Dispatch coordinates equipment movement between terminals and repositions trailers to maintain service. Drivers may occasionally wait for loaded trailers or handle additional repositioning.
Q: What freight documentation responsibilities do drivers have?
Drivers verify trailer numbers, BOL documents, delivery instructions, obtain customer signatures, and note exceptions. Accurate paperwork prevents processing delays across the cross-dock network.

CDL Job Market

Los Angeles remains one of the most competitive and active CDL-A labor markets in the United States. The combination of port activity, massive warehousing, manufacturing, and retail fulfillment creates continuous demand for experienced local and regional drivers. Cross-dock, LTL, and distribution positions are especially common due to the density of industrial parks and e-commerce facilities. Carriers regularly seek drivers comfortable with urban congestion, appointment-based deliveries, and multi-stop operations. Demand stays strong year-round with seasonal increases during holiday periods.

Location & Freight Market

Southern California functions as one of North America’s largest freight gateways. The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach feed massive volumes of imported consumer goods and industrial materials into regional distribution networks. Major warehousing clusters in the Inland Empire, South Bay, and Los Angeles County create constant cross-dock and transfer demand. Manufacturing facilities, retail fulfillment centers, and component suppliers generate steady palletized dry freight movements. Traffic corridors like I-10, I-5, and I-710 link these hubs, while appointment-driven operations require precise coordination between terminals and customers. Seasonal retail peaks and production cycles further increase trailer activity throughout the year.
