Dispatch provides pickup details, customer contacts, delivery requirements, and securement expectations the evening before or early morning. Drivers start with pre-trip inspection of tractor, trailer, and securement equipment before heading to the shipper.
At the shipper, verify load placement, weight distribution, and dimensions. Complete securement using appropriate chains, straps, and protection. Perform final inspection then depart for regional delivery. Most loads move from San Diego area toward Inland Empire or Los Angeles markets with potential reloads.
After delivery and customer coordination, drivers secure reload opportunities where possible before returning toward San Diego. Because Southern California freight patterns change daily, drivers may occasionally experience shorter mileage weeks during slower construction periods. En-route securement checks remain critical throughout the shift.
