CDL Job Market

Greensboro maintains a solid base of CDL-A employment across LTL city and linehaul, food and beverage distribution, industrial shuttle work, dedicated accounts and regional freight. Airport-connected and express operations compete for many of the same experienced drivers, especially those who prefer home-daily schedules and predictable local work over long-haul mileage. Local hourly opportunities commonly fall in the low-to-mid $30s range, making this segment competitive rather than low-cost. Drivers who value steady terminal access, scheduled freight and regular home time find consistent demand in the Piedmont Triad market throughout the year.

Location & Freight Market

Piedmont Triad International Airport sits at the center of a manufacturing and distribution corridor that links Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point. Direct connections to I-40, I-73/I-74 and I-85 move freight efficiently across the Carolinas and into Virginia. The airport hosts major cargo activity, including the FedEx Mid-Atlantic hub and DHL operations, generating steady volumes of time-critical air freight. Nearby industrial and logistics operations further feed regional cross-docks and distribution centers. These factors create ongoing demand for short-haul and shuttle capacity that keeps sealed trailers circulating between the airport campus and surrounding facilities rather than relying solely on long-haul networks.
