Frequently Asked Questions

How does port congestion affect scheduling?

Drivers may experience waiting periods at JAXPORT terminals during peak vessel unloading windows, which are compensated through detention pay and adjusted dispatch timing.

Do I need auto hauling experience?

It is preferred but not required. New drivers receive hands-on training with multi-level securement systems and port loading procedures.

What is the typical weekly workload?

Most drivers complete 2–4 regional cycles per week depending on vehicle arrival schedules and dealership demand across Florida and Georgia.

How are vehicles loaded and secured?

Vehicles are staged at port terminals and secured using hydraulic deck systems, chains, and inspection protocols before departure.

What equipment will I operate?

Drivers operate Freightliner, Kenworth, and Volvo tractors paired with multi-level auto haulers assigned based on availability and route demand.

Are routes predictable?

Routes are semi-structured based on port arrivals, meaning Jacksonville–Florida–Georgia corridors remain consistent but daily dispatch timing may vary.

💼 Career Opportunities

This Jacksonville CDL-A auto hauler position places drivers directly into one of Florida’s busiest vehicle logistics networks, supported by continuous imports through JAXPORT and rail intermodal yards. While routes are structured around predictable Southeast dealership demand, real-world operations still depend on vessel schedules, terminal congestion, and freight flow variability. Drivers who perform consistently may gain access to higher-volume dealership corridors, longer regional runs into Georgia and the Carolinas, or specialized fleet assignments within automotive logistics. Some drivers transition into trainer roles or dedicated port accounts over time, but advancement is tied to operational performance, safety record, and freight demand rather than guaranteed promotion paths. The work environment rewards adaptability, strong backing skills, and familiarity with high-density port operations, especially around Jacksonville’s I-95 and I-10 freight corridors. Over time, experienced drivers may also qualify for premium vehicle freight assignments or expanded Southeast regional coverage lanes.
