Good News for Truck Drivers: 339 New Truck Parking Spots Open in Pennsylvania

Safe Truck Parking Expands Across PA

PennDOT has opened 339 new truck parking spaces at 24 locations across Pennsylvania, giving CDL drivers more legal and safe places to stop, rest, and stay compliant with HOS regulations. This is part of PennDOT’s plan to add over 1,200 spaces by the end of 2026.

Where Are the New Parking Spots?

  • Interstate on-ramps
  • Weigh stations
  • Other state-owned locations

Counties With New Truck Parking

  • I-99 (Bellwood) – Blair County
  • I-79 & I-81 weigh stations – Butler, Franklin, Schuylkill, Washington, York
  • I-79 on-ramps – Erie County
  • I-70 area – Fulton County
  • I-380 weigh stations – Lackawanna County
  • Route 315 & Route 940 – Luzerne & Northampton
  • Route 6 & U.S. Route 11 – Pike & Snyder

Why This Matters

PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll, a CDL holder, emphasized the importance of safe parking:

“Safe truck parking is critical for the people who keep goods moving through Pennsylvania. This is a commonsense way to improve safety and help drivers meet federal rest requirements.”

Benefits for Drivers

  • More legal parking options
  • Less stress at the end of the day
  • Better compliance with HOS rules
  • Improved road safety for everyone

What’s Next

PennDOT is reviewing additional projects, with hundreds more spaces planned before the end of 2026. Drivers running through Pennsylvania can expect safer stops and fewer parking headaches.
